8 basic tips

Catalonia is, in general, a very safe country. However, it is recommended that you follow some basic common-sense tips to ensure your stay is as smooth as possible:
  1. Always carry an official identification document with you.
  2. In public spaces, keep your personal belongings within sight at all times, especially in crowded places.
  3. Do not fall asleep on the beach or in other public spaces, particularly if you are carrying valuables.
  4. In crowded areas:
    • Keep your wallet and mobile phone in a cross-body bag worn in front of you.
    • If you carry a backpack with electronic devices (mobile phone, laptop, etc.), wear it in front rather than on your back.
  5. Avoid carrying large amounts of cash.
  6. Do not write your address or any other personal information on your house keys.
  7. Close windows and doors when leaving your accommodation or when sleeping.
  8. Avoid walking through isolated or poorly lit areas.
