Accommodation

On this page:

There are different accommodation options available to students while studying in Catalonia. We recommend that you explore the alternatives available to the university where you are studying. Many have a range of university residences or colleges of residence close to the campuses. Accommodations managed by official services guarantee quality, safety and hygiene.

Key tips:

  • Search well in advance to have a wider choice.
  • Check that you can go easily from your accommodation to the university on foot or using public transport.
  • Make sure the accommodation meets your needs. It should be well ventilated and have natural light so that you use less electricity.
  • Book through trustworthy sites: check that the site through which you arrange accommodation is reliable and that the agents handling the booking are accredited.
  • If you rent a flat, you will be asked to pay a deposit (equivalent to one or more months' rent). You will have to pay this before you go to live in the flat and it will be returned to you when the rental agreement expires, if nothing has been damaged and there are no other problems.
  • In the case of a flat shared with other students, you will normally share payment of the deposit, the rent and utility bills.
  • In the event of any damage or malfunction, you need to inform the owner.

Flats specially adapted for disabled students are also available, thus complying with one of the aims of the Generalitat de Catalunya's UNDISCAT Technical Committee, which seeks to establish equality of opportunity for students with disabilities.
