Catalonia has a diverse and plural university population, also a reflection of Catalan society. Apart from the laws, which guarantee the rights of all people, also the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders and intersexuals, additionally the university system has its own mechanisms, with protocols for the prevention, detection and action against the LGBTI-phobia that all Catalan universities have.
Catalonia has the Comprehensive Care Network (SAI) to promote awareness of sexual and gender diversity and to prevent LGBTI-phobia. The network operates across the territory to address situations of discrimination, as well as to provide accompaniment, support, and information related to sexual and gender diversity.
In recent years, more than 700.000 people with disabilities have been registered in Catalonia, and each year thousands of students with different abilities are part of the Catalan university system. Universities have strengthened their inclusion and accessibility policies and provide specific support services to ensure equal opportunities.
In addition to the accessibility of facilities, the necessary adjustments are made so that students with these needs can carry out their academic experience with full guarantees.
