Lleida

Legends, art, heritage and the oldest university

Lleida is home to the oldest university in Catalonia, the University of Lleida, which dates from the 13th century. The city's historical heritage includes the imposing Seu Vella, a unique cathedral in Romanesque and Gothic style, which transports the visitor to a medieval city, with its well preserved walled enclosure.

The city is home to ten museums, dozens of monuments and sites of architectural interest, a wide range of shops and leisure facilities, and offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the region's gastronomy.

When your studies allow you some time off, don't miss the opportunity to visit L'Alt Pirineu Natural Park, with its ski resorts, or go on a cultural tour of the Boí Valley, whose Romanesque churches are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Lleida is a quiet city, close to the Pyrenees and with a very active university life.
