Learn Catalan

If you are interested in learning Catalan, various resources are available to help you. The language services at all Catalan universities offer courses in Catalan and also oversee the awarding of certificates to learners who meet the requirements for each level: basic user (A1), basic user (A2), independent user (B1), independent user (B2), proficient user (C1), proficient user for teaching and research (C1) and proficient user (C2).

At Intercat, a service specifically designed for international students, you will find information and teaching material to introduce you to the Catalan language and Catalan culture, using online resources: learning material, social and linguistic documentation, information about language volunteers, etc.

The Generalitat de Catalunya also has a I want to learn Catalan section on its website, which gives full details of Catalan courses, official certificates, programmes and resources. Also, you have resources and courses to study Catalan before arriving in Catalonia. 

There is also the language volunteering scheme, which is based on conversation between pairs consisting of one person who speaks Catalan fluently and another who has a basic knowledge of the language and wants to build on that.
